 Constitutional considerations
ACCA staff members are preparing a recommendation for the Constitutional Revision Commission about the processes for local laws and local constitutional amendments. The ACCA board is scheduled to consider the draft recommendations on Jan. 17.
 Headed to D.C.
ACCA President Tim Choate and ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield are headed to Washington, D.C., this week for the annual meeting of association executives and presidents to review NACo’s federal legislative agenda and to discuss future programs that will be offered to counties throughout the nation.
 Reminder for first commission meeting in February
According to Alabama Code Section 40-7-42, county commissions are required to levy taxes at the first regular commission meeting every February. Questions? Contact Mary Pons.
 Generic drug benefit
Effective January 1, participants in the local government insurance program can get prescriptions for generic drugs filled for $5 each at network pharmacies. Only your regular insurance card is required.
 Attention workers' compensation members
The final payroll audits for members of the ACCA Workers’ Compensation Self-Insurers’ Fund have been completed for the fiscal year that ended in September. Bills and refunds have been sent out. Questions? Contact Henry van Arcken.
