EMA Director
The Monroe County Commission is accepting resumes for the position of Emergency Management Director.
Application: Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Computer experience is required. Applicants must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to execute principals and practices of emergency management as defined within the Code of Alabama and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR44). Applicants are required to have some management experience in coordinating programs and developing plans to meet their specific requirements. Not required but preferred: AAEM Certification. If not certified the applicant will be required to get AAEM certified once employed. Must have the qualities that will enable the applicant to establish and maintain working relationships with elected officials and other emergency type personnel within the county and establish a means of keeping officials informed/trained on emergency management procedures. Applicant must posses a valid Alabama Driver’s license.
Job Requirements: Required to secure additional funding for the local EMA programs through all approved state and federal emergency management funding programs. Required to attend necessary training sessions, meetings, or conferences to obtain updated knowledge and training on all emergency management practices and procedures. Required to establish and maintain a system of notification for emergency information to the citizens within the county. Act as liaison between local and federal Emergency Management agencies during normal and emergency response operations.

Appraiser III
The Talladega County Commission is seeking an Appraiser III.
Salary Range: Based on qualifications
Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Chief Appraiser performs the following duties: Supervises, trains, evaluates and coordinates the work of office and field personnel involved in appraisal operations; prioritizes daily work assignments and assigns field work; measure, list and values new construction projects, plats and related field projects; revalues and sets values on existing properties in the residential, agricultural, industrial and commercial classes; makes recommendations as to the valuation of properties; analyzes inspection data and makes appropriate changes to existing records and assessments; performs analysis of assessments for the assigned purpose of recommending changes in assessments and revaluation projects; analyzes and compares the level of assessment of different neighborhoods to maintain consistency in the reflected market value of assessments; researches official records for real property transactions; interprets and determines ownership by deed descriptions; reads and interprets blueprints, plats and condominium articles and amendments; maintains thorough and accurate documentation of field work and related appraisal activities; conducts market studies and compiles market data relating to construction cost and current rural and urban land values; provides needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees in the same or similar class of positions; keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems; attend meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on the principles, practices and new developments in assigned work areas; responds to citizens’ questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner; communicate and coordinate regularly with appropriate others to maximize theeffectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities; performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification.
Minimum Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or possession of GED, preferably supplemented by an Associates Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Taxation, Property Valuation or related; and considerable experience in Appraisal operations; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work. Must be a State of Alabama Certified Appraiser and have a valid Alabama driver’s license.
Work Schedule: 40 hours weekly, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (and as needed).

Chief Financial Officer
Starting Salary: Negotiable Depending on Qualifications and Experience
The Chief Financial Officer provides leadership and coordination of the financial affairs of the county, including budget preparation and administration and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations; ensures that accounting procedures comply with Governmental Accounting Standards Board principles and practices, that the general ledger is maintained and routine financial reports are produced, oversees the management of proprietary funds and grants, and provides work direction to other staff performing accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions.
Minimum Education and Experience Required: Combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field, plus three to five years fiscal management and accounting work experience. Governmental accounting and/or auditing experience preferred.

Barbour County, Alabama
Real Property Appraiser
Starting Salary: Entry level is $30,000. However, experience and education will be taken into consideration.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems or Business Administration. An Associate’s Degree and three years experience in the mass appraisal of real property may also be considered. The employee must have the ability to become certified within a specific period of time as an Alabama Certified Appraiser (Real Property Tract) through the State Property Tax Education and Certification Program.
Duties: Performs field appraisals. Sets values for all types of residential, commercial, agricultural, and historical properties in the county. Responsible for the completion of scheduled reappraisal projects. Provides property owner with explanation of valuation process and the methods employed to establish fair market value.
Work Schedule: 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
