Opinion # 99-100
Discussion providing that portion of gas tax revenues used to pay proportionate share of commissioners' salary cannot be used for insurance premiums, dues and seminars related to road responsibilities.

Discussion advising that 4 cent gas tax money cannot be used to pay for removal of trash and debris from streets on a daily basis, nor for the operation and maintenance of lighting along an interstate highway or public street.

Discussion providing that the county cannot use 4¢ gasoline funds to pay a claim against the county for alleged property damage resulting from construction of a county road.

Discussion of possible uses of various gas tax monies for a one-time cleaning of the street and adjoining sidewalk and parking area, as well as for landscaping along a state right-of-way.

Discussion providing that the municipality may not expend petroleum inspection fees for the construction and repair of sidewalks within the city.
