Workers Comp Fund Continues to Return
Money
Everyone who knows me
well knows that I am a conservative when it comes to managing
the financial affairs of the Association of County Commissions
of Alabama. One of the things I particularly do not like
to do is sign checks. Signing checks represents "out
go" and I prefer "income." But there are
two times each year when I get take pleasure in signing
checks. Those two times are when I sign refund checks
to counties and other entities that participate in the
ACCA Workers Compensation Fund and the ACCA Liability
Self-Insurance Fund.
The Board of Trustees of the
Workers Compensation Fund recently approved a refund of
$750,000 to qualified participants. By the time this edition
of The County Commissioner is published each participant
will have received its refund check. I enjoyed signing
the checks because doing so reflects the conservative
nature of the Fund's Board of Trustees and represents
"income" to the participants.
Listed below are the names
of each participant and the amount received by each.

The Board of Trustees of the Associations
Liability Self-Insurance Fund also recently approved refunds
to its participants. I certainly am looking forward to
signing those checks shortly after the first of the year.
