Executive Director's Report - Convention

ACCA Leadership...Those Who Serve
It has become customary
each year following the annual convention to devote this
space in the magazine for the purpose of recognizing those
individuals who serve in the many leadership and service
positions of the Association. From the President on down,
it takes about 150 individuals to serve in all these positions.
The Association simply could
not function if county officials and employees were not
willing to volunteer their time and energies. Listed below
are all the Association's many boards and committees along
with the names of the individuals serving on them for
2002-2003.

The members of the Association's
Board of Directors and Legislative Committee are, for
the most part, elected by the membership. The members
of the steering committees are appointed by the President.
The members of the Boards of Trustees for the two insurance
programs are appointed by the Board of Directors.
The President and members of
the Board of Directors devote considerable effort in trying
to make sure that committees and boards are filled with
individuals representing all areas of the state and with
an eye on the differences among counties, i.e., rural/urban,
etc. Even with best efforts and good intentions it is
not possible to know of everyone who has an interest on
serving in some capacity. So, if you are a county official
or employee and have a desire to serve on a board or committee,
do not hesitate to contact the Association office. It
is never too early or too late to serve.
